A Bigger, Better Season 3
The excitement is building! And Just Like That is officially returning for a third season, and Sarah Jessica Parker promises it’s going to be bigger and better than ever. Speaking at the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, Parker gave fans a sneak peek into what’s coming. She didn’t hold back on the hype.
The Most Ambitious Season Yet
Season 3 recently wrapped a grueling seven-month shoot, and Parker says it’s the show’s most ambitious season yet. “It feels really big, really robust, and exciting,” she said. “We’ve taken some big swings creatively. There are so many interesting stories with new and familiar characters finding their rightful place. Carrie’s storyline is wonderful. We’ve also introduced new faces and folded big ideas into those big swings. Some male characters return, and there are exciting new men, too.”
Heartbreak in Season 2 Finale
Fans can’t wait to see what’s in store, especially after the dramatic finale of Season 2. In that episode, Carrie and Aidan (played by John Corbett) made the heartbreaking decision to press pause on their rekindled romance. Aidan decided to prioritize raising his teenage sons in Virginia, telling Carrie they’ll reunite in five years. It was a gut-punch moment for fans who’ve been rooting for the couple.
Showrunner Explains Aidan’s Choice
Showrunner Michael Patrick King explained the decision on The Writers Room podcast. “Aidan’s love for his children had to come first,” King said. “The only way he’d ever pull away from Carrie is for a bigger love—his responsibility as a parent. Any parent would understand that.” However, King hinted the timeline might not be set in stone. Fans caught Carrie’s playful line to Seema (Sarita Choudhury) in the finale: “Well, I may get some time off for good behavior.” Could this mean a shorter wait for the reunion?
New Characters and Fresh Storylines
Season 3 isn’t just about Carrie and Aidan. Parker teased the growth of new faces and exciting arcs for additional characters. “These characters have earned their stories,” she said. “It’s about growth, new challenges, and keeping the essence of what fans love.” With new male characters joining the mix, fans are buzzing about the possibilities.
Reflecting on the Legacy of SATC
Reflecting on the original Sex and the City series, Parker credited the fans for its success. “The female audience, what we called the gang of 10 million, made it all possible,” she said. “We took them on a unique adventure. It’s been such a privilege to play a character for over 25 years.” The legacy of Sex and the City continues to shape the spin-off, keeping its essence alive while pushing boundaries.
