As Halloween approaches, families across the nation are gearing up for a night of fun, costumes, and candy. However, behind the playful scares and pumpkin carvings, a silent and potentially deadly threat lurks: fentanyl.
Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid far more potent than morphine, poses a significant risk even in minuscule amounts. While the historical risk of tampered candies during Halloween is low, the potency and prevalence of fentanyl in recent years have raised concerns among parents and guardians.
To ensure a safe Halloween:
Always inspect treats for signs of tampering.
Accept homemade goodies only from trusted sources.
Educate children about the dangers of unfamiliar substances.
