Melania Trump’s Casual travel Look to Hurricane-Damaged North Carolina

Melania Trump, 54, made headlines with her relaxed outfit during a visit to hurricane-stricken Asheville, North Carolina, alongside her husband, President Donald Trump. On Friday morning in Washington, D.C., the First Lady kept her look casual yet chic. She wore black skinny jeans, matching lace-up boots, and a green puffer jacket, reportedly the $995 Leonard Puffer Coat by Rag & Bone. Adding a stylish touch, she completed the look with a black knit beanie and aviator sunglasses.

A Subtle Jab at Biden?

Her choice of sunglasses seemed like a subtle dig at former President Joe Biden, who famously popularized the aviator style. The couple boarded Marine One to visit regions devastated by Hurricane Helene last September. Melania’s down-to-earth ensemble marked a stark contrast to her past controversial fashion moments.

Timing of the North Carolina Visit

The trip to North Carolina came just days after Donald Trump’s swearing-in as the 47th President of the United States. During the inauguration weekend, Melania wowed the nation with a series of glamorous looks. But on Friday, she opted for a more practical style.

Inauguration Day Glamour

On inauguration day, Melania stepped out in a stunning long navy-blue coat designed by Adam Lippes, paired with navy-blue suede Manolo Blahnik heels and black leather gloves. The coat, priced at $4,290, exuded sophistication. She complemented the outfit with a white wrap top and an Eric Javits wide-brimmed hat. The hat’s flat top and white trim perfectly tied the look together, showcasing Melania’s flair for elegance. Her hair was styled in a sleek bun, and she accessorized with diamond stud earrings.

“The tradition of the presidential inauguration embodies the beauty of American democracy and today we had the honor to dress our first lady, Mrs. Melania Trump. Mrs. Trump’s outfit was created by some of America’s finest craftsmen and I take great pride in showing such work to the world.” - Adam Lippes, January 20th, 2025 (Photo: Instagram)

Evening Elegance at the Balls

For the evening inaugural balls, Melania turned heads in a custom-made Hervé Pierre gown. The strapless white dress featured a thigh-high slit and a dramatic black wrap detail. She paired it with a vintage silver pendant by Harry Winston and white pumps, ensuring all eyes were on her.

Back to Business in the White House

While Donald Trump began his second term with a flurry of executive orders and pardons, including granting clemency to all January 6 rioters, Melania returned to her First Lady duties at the White House. In a recent interview with Fox & Friends’ Ainsley Earhardt, Melania expressed confidence in navigating the role this time around.

Confidence and Family Focus

I know the rooms, the process, and where we’ll be living,” she shared. She also mentioned her son Barron, now 18, will visit her while attending college. “He’ll come and visit, yes. As parents, we guide them, teach them, and then give them wings to fly. I respect his choices,” Melania explained.

A Shift in Style

Melania’s latest appearance showcased a more subdued side of the former model. Her practical outfit struck a balance between style and appropriateness, signaling a shift in her approach to public appearances. The visit to North Carolina underscored her and Donald Trump’s commitment to addressing national crises while keeping the spotlight on their unique style choices.
