Travis Kelce: Jerk or just his head in the clouds?

Travis Kelce Reacts to a Young Fan’s Fall at a Chiefs Game: “I Felt Bad but Trusted Turk”

Editors Note

Not sure what to think about it, but admitting that he saw the incident , but kept on walking, that is just not cool. Especially, believe it or not, because of Taylor Swift you are a hero to tons of young people, so act like it.

And why even giving a comment at all?! Is your motto also bad press is good, as long as they talk about me. Do you really need it so bad to be talked about? Can’t keep up with your girlfriend?!

But trust me, that was the wrong move. Admitting you saw a child fall and you kept on walking by. Shame on you!!!

Story details:

Travis Kelce reflected on an unexpected moment during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Sunday, November 24, game against the Carolina Panthers, where his teammate Tershawn Wharton stepped up in a heroic act. Wharton caught a young fan who fell from the stands while attempting to connect with the victorious Chiefs following their narrow 30-27 win at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The moment quickly went viral, with Wharton being praised for his quick reflexes and care. On the Wednesday, November 27, episode of the New Heights podcast, hosted by Travis and his brother Jason Kelce, the duo discussed the incident and gave kudos to Wharton for his actions.

Travis’s Take on the Incident

Travis, 35, admitted that he witnessed the event unfold but didn’t intervene directly.
“I actually saw this and I kept on moving … I felt bad after,” he confessed. “I was to the left and I was like, ‘Oh s—. You got him, Turk? Hell yeah, Turk’s got him!’”

Though initially shocked, Travis jokingly suggested the young boy should “sue the Panthers” for the situation, pointing to what he believed was a poorly designed gap in the railing. “What the f— is the gap for?” he quipped. “He should f—ing go to school with a neck brace on and sue the Panthers. Get rich quick, kid.”

However, the tight end closed his comments on a sincere note, commending Wharton for his quick action and care in ensuring the boy’s safety. “Shout-out to Turk for making sure the little guy was alright,” Travis added.

Wharton on the Moment

Tershawn Wharton, 26, reflected on the incident during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, November 26. He explained that his actions were instinctive:

“I would say it’s a natural reaction,” Wharton shared. “I heard my name a little bit, and when I heard my name, I saw him coming down. I just had to kind of push him into the stands a little bit to make sure he didn’t hit too hard.”

Wharton clarified that he didn’t get the chance to connect with the young fan afterward but expressed his hopes to meet him in the future: “I would like to reach out to him, get him to a game, and reflect with him a little more if I could.”

A Heartwarming Outcome

The incident highlights the bond between athletes and their fans, with Wharton’s reflexes and care potentially saving the child from serious injury. Travis’s humorous yet heartfelt remarks, coupled with Wharton’s willingness to further connect with the fan, underscore the Chiefs’ culture of camaraderie and care both on and off the field.

Fans of the Chiefs, and the NFL at large, were moved by the viral moment, which brought attention to the importance of safety measures at stadiums and the humanity of players like Wharton and Kelce.
